Campaign medal issued for service during the South African frontier wars in the 1800’s.The medal is silver and 36mm in diameter, with an ornamental scroll swivelling suspension, and a date bar with the date 1877.
The obverse portrays the diademed head of Queen Victoria and the words VICTORIA REGINA.
The reverse depicts the lion of South Africa crouching in front of a protea bush. Below the lion is a shield with four spears. Above the lion are the words SOUTH AFRICA .
On the edge of the medal the following is inscribed “Tpr. A.W. CarrBowker’sRovers”
