    Object Description

    Carved wooden figure of an initiate. She has straight columnar legs painted white at the bottom and no arms, large breasts and a large head. Her hair is in the bicycle seat style and she has a band of string ties around her head with a few beads strung onto it. The eyes are painted white and brows black. She has two bent nails in each ear with a ring through one. She has three beaded loops around her neck and a black and white necklace. In the front she wears a thetho (front skirt) and at the back an ntepana (triangular back skirt) with the bottom broken off. Both are decorated with beadwork. .
