    Object Description

    Knife consists of a metal blade and a carved ivory/bone upper handle. The sheath is made in two pieces of wood - bound together with leather bands top and bottom. The ivory finial is carved in the shape of a quadruped standing on a raised conical pillar. The quadruped and the base of the hilt are carved with zigzag decorations. the legs of the animal are carved with horizontal stripes. Attached to the sheath with a leather thong is a rod of ivory/bone. This is decorated along its length with criss-cross engraved lines and ends in a flat ovoid shape with geometric shapes as decoration.
