    Proposal Description
Pilanesberg Platinum Mines (Pty) Ltd (PPM) is an existing platinum and chrome mining and mineral processing operation to the north-west of the Pilanesberg National Park in the North-West Province, and operates under an approved mining right and associated authorisations. PPM is planning to expand the existing mineral processing operations to include a hydrometallurgical (KELL) plant and an additional UG2 milling and flotation circuit. In addition, PPM plans to upgrade the existing sewage treatment plant and relocate the waste storage and handling facility to an area outside the plant. All planned infrastructure and related activities are to take place within PPM’s existing operational footprint.

SLR Consulting (Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SLR) is the appointed independent environmental consultant undertaking the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for the proposed project. The EIA process commenced in 2014.

Following optimisation of the project by PPM and the completion of specialist studies, the EIA and EMP report for the proposed project is now available for public and regulatory authority review.
