Object Description

We propose to sample material for ancient DNA (aDNA) extraction (and C14 dating where relevant) from Zambian human remains (in particular bone and parts of teeth), curated in the Dart collection. This forms part of a larger initiative to trace the broader population history of southern Africa. Our team is already involved in aDNA projects in both South Africa and Zambia and wish to extend our research to include Zambian material curated in South Africa in the Raymond A Dart Collection.
