SunElex Energy (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter “SunElex”) has proposed the development of the Matjhabeng 400 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant with 80 MW (320 MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) (hereinafter the “Project”), which is located north and south of the town of Odendaalsrus in the Free State Province. The proposed Project will be developed to serve the Matjhabeng Local Municipality’s energy requirements and will generate power for delivery to the local/national grid.
