Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment process for the proposed Hekpoort mixed-use development

The Gauteng Department of Human Settlement (GDHS) proposes to construct a Mixed-Use Development on a site that occupies approximately 73.37Ha, and is located on Portions 79, 91, 96, 321 and 322 of Farm 504 JQ within the Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM). The project is part of the Rapid Land Release Programme (RLRP) which was launched 2018. The RLRP is a component of the broader land reform programme in the Province and the Republic of South Africa and is aimed at unlocking economic value through the release of vacant state- owned land to qualifying individuals for use as complete housing units (single or multi-storey) ready for occupation under various housing segments, serviced sites for self-build, agricultural sites or commercial buildings.
