Nomination for UmQwashu Heritage Site

On the 14 May 1835, the Mfengu that had migrated from the area under King Hintsa near Butterworth to the land offered to them by the British near Peddie, took an oath of loyalty to God, the British throne and to educate their children under milkwood tree. The moment has been commemorated annually.
