    Proposal Description
The battle of Talana Hill, the first major battle of the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), was fought here on October 20, 1899. The location is the only South African museum on a battlefield where structures from the war are still standing. As a result, on December 17, 1982, the land was designated as a National Monument. The museum is housed on the property of one of Dundee's founders, Peter Smith, with all of the old farm buildings still standing and beautifully preserved. The Talana Museum cemetery is divided into three sections: the Smith family and their relatives' graves, the pioneer grave portion, and the military part.
Subdivision 727 of Farm Dundee 4339, Dundee District, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
