    Proposal Description
    Karan Beef currently operates a feedlot on Erf 1174 situated approximately five hundred metres (500 m) towards the south west of Adendorp consisting of twenty seven (27) pens which can accommodate up to three thousand (3 000) heads of cattle. Due to an ever increase in the demand for beef, Karan Beef wish to expand their current operation with two thousand (2 000) head of cattle. In order to accommodate the two thousand (2 000) head of cattle ten (10) new pens will need to be developed on Erf 1205 which neighbors Erf 1174. Calves will be brought in from the age of six (6) months where they will be allocated to a pen and will remain for a period of four (4) months until they are taken to an abattoir. Each pen will be/have:
    • Twenty eight metres (28 m) in width and seventy seven metres (77 m) in length with a combined development footprint of ten thousand seven hundred and eighty square metres (10 780 m2);
    • A feeding through which will be installed in each of the pens consisting of cement (Please refer to Figure 1);
    • Constructed from wooden poles and cables with a metal pipe placed on top of the poles (Please refer to Figure 2);
    • One water trough from where cattle can drink (Please refer to Figure 3);
    • One loading ramp will be constructed for the loading and offloading of cattle (Please refer to Figure 4); and,
    • A pond for manure water if deemed necessary.
