Hendrina Leachate Dam

Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom) proposes to develop a leachate dam at the existing and licensed Hendrina Power Station waste disposal facility located to the south west of the Hendrina Power Station. The proposed leachate dam is a legal requirement to protect the environment as it will be used to collect any leachate generated from the waste disposal facility and act as an evaporation dam. The activity triggers the requirement for a waste management license (WML) and in turn a basic assessment (BA) process for Category A activities must be followed for approval prior to the commencement of the Proposed Project.
