Drilling and excavation at the Lefika la Noka tufa site, Cradle of Humankind UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gauteng, South Africa

Permit for geological drilling and sampling, and initial archaeological and palaeontological excavations to systematically study the Lefika la Noka site and incorporate it into the well recorded and studied fossil sites of the Cradle. This project will acquire an extensive dataset that has the potential of expanding our knowledge of palaeo-climate and palaeo-environments of the Cradle and the interior of southern Africa in a critical period. The site is in the North West Province.
