AAT6807 - Mogalakwena Platinum Mine Complex North-east Waste Rock Dump Grave Relocation Process

Anglo American Platinum (AAP) operates the Mogalakwena Platinum Mining Complex (MC) near to Mokopane in the Limpopo province. AAP requires the North East Waste Rock Dump (NE WRD) for dumping to begin in the first quarter of 2022. AAP requested Digby Wells Environmental (Digby Wells) to undertake a complete Grave Relocation Process (GRP) in terms of the National Heritage Resources (Act. 25 of 1999) (NHRA). To date, 38 graves were identified including 26 and 12 unknown graves.
Of the 38 graves, only the 12 unknown graves and two infant graves require permitting in terms of Section 36 of the NHRA.
