Proposed development of the Brakpan 1 Solar Energy Facility (Option A) as part of the Poortjie Wes Renewable Energy Cluster near Beaufort West in the Western Cape Province

Brakpan 1 Solar Energy Facility (Pty) Ltd. the (“Independent Power Producer”) proposes to develop the Brakpan 1 Solar Energy Facility and its associated electrical infrastructure (the “Project/Facility”) approximately 15km north-west of Nelspoort and 60km south-west of Beaufort West within the Central Karoo District Municipality in the Western Cape Province. The Project site is located within the Beaufort West Renewable Energy Development Zone (“REDZ 11”) and the Central Transmission Corridor. The facility is to be developed with a maximum installed capacity of 220 MW and will have a generating capacity of 190 MW. This project is also referred to as “Option A”.
