PROPOSED 3600 SOW UNIT PIGGERY ON PORTIONS OF THE FARMS SAMARIA, DE RUST, REWIESIE AND MARA, FREE STATE PROVINCE

The proposed preliminary lay-out / concept lay-out, indicate that the units will be grouped on certain parts of the
farms SAMARIA, DE RUST, REWIESIE & MARA, in the Free State Province. The planned configuration is as
follow:
 Site 1: Multiplier – 1200 Sows on the farm SAMARIA No. 484.
 Site 2 – Commercial sow/breeder unit – 2400 sows on the farm DE RUST No. 488 Por. 2.
 Site 3 – Grow out unit – Growers on the farm REWIESIE No. 1085.
 Site 4- Grow out unit – Growers on the farm MARA No. 1084.
 New slurry dam for each site.
 Footprint of proposed piggery: less than 20 Ha. It will be around 18.63 Ha.



Water for the farm is supplied by boreholes. The effluent/slurry currently from the pig production facilities is
stored in a lined slurry dams for each site. The liquid effluent is used to irrigate the land around the piggery.
