Proposal Description
Eskom commissioned an archaeological rescue programme at Manogeng after the chance discovery of human remains in 2018. To date seventy-nine (79) individual skeletons have been isolated, making it probably the largest assemblage of human remains of a pre-colonial date ever to be found in South Africa. The archaeological rescue programme was completed in November 2021. The human remains must be reburied at a site that has been prepared beside the substation.
