THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORKNEY MVALA PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR ENERGY FACILITY AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE, NEAR ORKNEY, NORTH WEST PROVINCE

The development of a photovoltaic (PV) solar facility is proposed within the City of Matlosana Local Municipality and the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province. The projects forms part of a cluster with the Orkney Solar 2 Photovoltaic Solar Energy Facility also proposed to be located in close proximity. The proposed development is located on Portions 23 and 24 of the Farm Goedgenoeg No. 433 located approximately 8 km southwest of the town of Orkney. The solar PV facility will comprise several arrays of PV panels and associated infrastructure and will have a contracted capacity of up to 150 MW. An area of approximately 313 hectares is under assessment for the development.
