Oil painting of a seated lady with two chickens at her feet with a small thatched roofed hut in the background, framed by a palm tree and leaves. The painting sits within a gold coloured wooden frame. The painting is signed on the bottom right corner.
The painting is at least 80 years old. It was painted by Maggie Laubser probably in the early 1920’s. I inherit it from my mother (Jeannine Kruger) and she in turn inherit it from her parents, my grandparents (Mr and Mrs RF Teichmann) . To my knowledge they bought the painting here in South-Africa, maybe from the artist herself. I grew up with the painting hanging in their house in Pretoria. My mother had it reframed at Schwaikerdts in Pretoria in the 1980’s. When she passed away a few years ago, I got the painting. I live in Cape Town.
