Proposed Aries-Kronos 2nd 400kV ±38km Deviation Powerline, Northern Cape Province

This application is required for the deviation route along the 180km Aries-Kronos 2nd 400kV Transmission line. The deviation is a segment of ±38km in length and it is outside the previously studied and authorised 2km corridor. The deviation of the line is proposed to accommodate the landowners at ‘Bastards Pan’ and ‘Witkopjes’ farms, who could only accommodate the ‘Aries-Kronos 2nd 400kV transmission line’ along their farm boundaries. The effects of these landowners have resulted in the deviation on juxtaposed farms, due to the need for alignment.

The proposed 2nd 400kV transmission line is from Aries substation near Kenhardt to Kronos substation near Copperton in the Northern Cape province.
