Proposal Description
The Kuba Waste Management Facility (WMF) (formerly FG Landfill) is an existing landfill in the Midrand / Olifantsfontein area, Gauteng Province. Kuba Waste Management Facility (Pty) Ltd is applying for Integrated Environmental Authorisation in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, No. 107 of 1998 (NEMA) and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (No. 59 of 2008) (NEM:WA) to:
- install a capping system on the existing waste disposal cells
- develop a clean Material Recovery Facility
- develop two additional waste disposal cells (cells 3 and 4) for disposal of general waste within the Kuba WMF footprint
- refurbish the leachate and stormwater dam complex
- expand the landfill gas extraction network.
