    Object Description

    Drawing depicts a wounded or exhausted monk being surrounded by  a group of recently converted- Christian people, trying to assist and revive him. Two men closing the wooden entrance door. Story is related to the persecution of Christian missionaries by Druids/ancient Britons.

    Bought in 1912 by Henry Tonks and presented by Sir Sigismund Neumann the same year, stored at the Tate and arrived in South Africa in 1916
