Object Description
Ink drawing of a male lion playing with a snake, i.e. it has its left paw extended and holding the snake at a distance on the ground. Paper is yellow due to varnish. Delacroix inspired by the exotic animals seen on trip to North Africa.

Purchased in Paris, 1912, presented to JAG by Sir Sigismund Neumann in 1912 but stored at Tate, arrived in SA in 1916
