REDUNDANT ASSET - A similar locomotive representing the 10 Class, Locomotive Class 10 # 735 is on Loan to a preservation group and forms part of the Transnet Collection. A further 3 , Class 10 # 744 , Class 10BR # 750 and Class 10 BR # 756 are on plinth at various stations. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library. Compliance to the NHRA will form part of the condition of sale.
