REDUNDANT ASSET - The 15 Class locomotive consists of 9 variations , 15 / 15A / 15AR / 15B /15 BR/ 15CB / 15CA /15E AND 15F of which 4 variations, 15A # 1791 at Bloemfontein, 15 AR # 1850 at Bloemfontein, 15 CA # 2802 at Esselenpark, 15E # 2878 at Bloemfontein are preserved and forms part of the Transnet Collection, A further 9 of the 15 Class type are on Loan to a preservation groups. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library. Compliance to the NHRA will form part of the condition of sale.
