REDUNDANT ASSET - Four similar locomotives representing the 16 Class locomotive, Locomotive 16B # 805 at Transnet Transport Museum , 16D # 860 Loan Locomotive, 16DA # 876 at the Bloemfontein Locomotive Depot and 16E # 858 at Kimberley are preserved and forms part of the Transnet Collection. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library. Compliance to the NHRA will form part of the condition of sale.
