The applicants are required to conduct an official site Inspection and a Phase ll Paleontological Impact Assessment by a qualified paleontologist. The applicants will be required to submit the site inspection report for further consideration by the KwaZulu-Natal AMAFA And Research Institute. The inspection should include assessment by experts in the specialist components as indicated above. The Study should cover:-Identification of all paleontological resources in the study area and its surroundings -50m -Assessment of the impact of the destruction on such paleontological resources-Evaluation of the impact of the destruction on paleontological resources relative to the sustainable social and economic benefits to be derived from the destruction of sites-Results of consultation with communities affected by the proposed destruction and other interested and affected parties regarding the impact of the development on paleontological resources-Consideration of alternatives if heritage/paleontological resources are affected by the destruction Mitigation plans for any adverse effects during and after completion of the project Table of all heritage resources identified. This should show Heritage resource type, description, location, significance and reasons for this rating. Please note that ALL heritage resources must have a mitigation plan against their destruction, irrespective of their level of significance.
Failure to comply with the requirements of the National Heritage Resources Act and the KwaZulu-Natal AMAFA and Research Institute Act could lead to legal action being instituted against the applicant.
