Interim comment
As stated in the previous letter from 18 March 2015, SAHRA indicated that it requires a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) to be undertaken by a professional archaeologist/palaeontologist for the proposed area. The HIA must include the archaeological and palaeontological component (Phase 1) and any other applicable heritage components. Appropriate (Phase 2) mitigation, which involves recording, sampling and dating sites that are to be destroyed, must be done as required. This must be submitted and approval by SAHRA awaited before construction commences. Once a HIA is received, SAHRA will be able to comment on the proposed development.
