Interim CommentSAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology, Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot accept this HIA because the report does not contain a tracklog, as evidence of a field survey that was undertaken. The section where it mentions the palaeosensitivity of the area (section 4.6) is insignificant because the development is located in a grey area is in accurate, the development is located in a high and low palaeontological sensitivity zone according to the SAHRIS palaeomap. Therefore, SAHRA requires an assessment of palaeontological resources by a suitably qualified palaeontologist. In addition, the report does not contain a detailed literature review of the various known heritage resources located within the region.Furthermore, it is not clear at which stage of the EA application process this application is in, this must be stated. If this case was created after the EA was granted, then this case must be made into a 38(1) application for SAHRA decision.The HIA must be amended to include the tracklog and a detailed literature review, and the amended HIA must be submitted to the case for commenting.
