Interim Comment
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot accept the submitted HIA as no site visit was conducted for the proposed development. SAHRA APM unit notes the 2015 survey, however a new site visit should have been undertaken as erosion over the years may have uncovered additional heritage resources.
SAHRA requests that an updated HIA be completed, inclusive of a recent site visit.
As this will influence the timeframes of the BAR process, SAHRA advises the applicant to apply for an extension of the BAR process as per section 19(1)b of the NEMA Regulations in order to comply with this comment.
Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above requested report.
