Interim Comment
The submitted heritage report is noted, however, SAHRA requires clarity on the application process. The date of the DBAR suggests that the application process may have concluded in late 2019 or early 2020. If the application process has been restarted, the most recent EA documents must be submitted for review. Additionally, the proposed development is located within an area of moderate and high sensitivity for palaeontological resources as per the SAHRIS PalaeoSensitivity map. As such, a desktop Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist. The report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments (see https://www.palaeosa.org/heritage-practitioners.html for a list of qualified palaeontologists).
Further comments will be issued upon the above requested information.
