Interim Comment
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology, Meteorite (APM) unit notes that there are grave sites located close to the proposed power line. however, it is not indicated how far the sites are from the the power line. There are no ground level photos of the study area and the grave sites. Please attach the ground level photos of the development area and indicate how far the graves are from the proposed powerline. It is also noted that the development might impact significant palaeontological heritage resources, as such, a field based Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist (See https://www.palaeosa.org/heritage-practitioners.html for a list of qualified palaeontologists). The report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments. The Palaeontological Component of Heritage Impact Assessments makes reference to a Letter of Recommendation for Exemption that is to be submitted if there is no likelihood that palaeontological heritage resources will be impacted. The appointed palaeontologist may choose to submit such a letter should they deem it appropriate.Further comments will be issued once the above requested has been attached to the case on SAHRIS.
