Final Comment The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) unit notes the heritage studies along with the recommendations provided therein. The heritage specialist report and the SAHRA notes that the proposed development is within an area considered to be of high archaeological significance (Local Significance 3A) which will likely have an adverse effect on the integrity of Platberg cultural landscape and that further mining or mining related activities at Dorp Gronden Ladybrand 451/RE are not advised.SAHRA therefore advises the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) to reject the application for the proposed borrow pit on farm Dorp Gronden Ladybrand 451/RE, Ladybrand, Free State Province. The decision on the EA must be submitted to SAHRA when a decision is made.
