SAHRA Response to Notification of Development
Due to its location close to the Mapungubwe National Park, the proposed weather tower may potentially have a visual impact to the Mapungubwe road (R572) and Mapungubwe gate. This application will be changed to a section 27 permit application due to this potential impact.
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) notes the NID recommendations and will await the submission of the desktop PIA. A HIA report must be submitted that has a brief site visit to the tower footprint area and its alternative location due to the low impact to the immediate area. But the HIA must include a visual impact assessment to the Mapungubwe National Park.
