Interim CommentThe SAHRA Archaeological, Palaeontological and Meteorites (APM) Unit acknowledges receipt of the Heritage Screener and recommendation contained therein and requests that the following is provided in terms of section 38(3) of the NHRA (25 of 1999).As the proposed development areas have previously been disturbed and the development footprint is small, no further assessment on the impact to acrhaeological resources required.However, as the proposed development is located in an area of high sensitivity in terms of palaeontological resources as per the SAHRIS PalaeoSensitivity map. A desktop Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist and a field-based assessment may be required depending on the findings of the assessment (See https://www.palaeosa.org/heritage-practitioners.html for a list of qualified palaeontologists). The report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments. Further comments will be issued upon submission of the desktop PIA and submission of all relevant documents pertaining to the development application.
