SAHRA has no objection to the proposed 30m excavation of the water line next to Reservoir 3 and the emergency repair of a major leak. The assessment of the water leak confirmed that Reservoir 3 was losing a substantial amount of water, therefore negatively impacting the Island’s water storage and supply. It is, therefore, unsustainable for RIM to continue with one functioning Reservoir during peak season.SAHRA hereby supports the proposed excavation along with the repair of the leak, subject to the following conditions:• Excavations and specifications of existing and replaced infrastructure and material are documented• Appropriate monitoring and safety measures are implemented• Should there be any archaeological/historically sensitive material uncovered, all work should cease with immediate effect and a heritage professional/archaeologist must be called on site to investigate, as well as document findings• As a condition, a Closing Report composed of photographs of the complete works must be uploaded onto SAHRIS upon conclusion of the project
