Interim Comment
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit requests that a field-based PIA of the development area be undertaken, as well-preserved biosedimentary structures including a range of different stromatolites have been identified within the surrounding areas as per the PIA conducted for Case ID 11967 (https://sahris.sahra.org.za/cases/upgrade-66kv-powerline-network-kuruma…).
The applicant is advised to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1)b of the NEMA EIA Regulations in order to comply with this comment. Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above requested report and revised BAR that includes the results of the PIA. The BAR appendices must also be submitted to the SAHRIS application.
