Interim CommentThe SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology, and Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot make an informed decision without an assessment of impacts to palaeontological resources because the proposed road upgrades are located in a region with moderate palaeontological sensitivity as seen on the SAHRIS palaeomap. According to the palaeomap policy, an independent suitably qualified palaeontologist must be appointed to undertake a desktop palaeontological impact assessment. The report of the desktop study must follow the 2012 Minimum Standards for Palaeontological Impact Assessment Guidelines. The SAHRA will provide further comments once the desktop palaeontological study is submitted.
