Interim Comment
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit requests that a field-based assessment of the impact to palaeontological resources be undertaken as part of the EIA phase of the EA application, as the development footprint is located in areas of very high palaeontological sensitivity as per the SAHRIS PalaeoSensitivity map. The pending assessment of the impact to palaeontological resources must be conducted by a qualified palaeontologist and comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Component of Heritage Impact Assessments.
Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above pending report and the draft EIA inclusive of appendices.
