Statement of Significance

Breccia pipe, 160 by 130 metres, which is one of the largest in the Karoo. It intrudes sandstone and mudstone of the Abrahamskraal Formation which has an age of 264 - 268 million years. Breccia pipe consists of angular clasts of Abrahamskraal Fm sandstone and mudstone in a siliceous matrix. It is possibly 183 million years old and associated with Karoo dolerite or latest Cretaceous in age associated with the 66 - 75 million year-old Sutherland Suite.
