Geosite comprises a prominent gorge, which incises through the Langeberg Range between Ashton and Montagu. Should be graded as local. Grading by: DOUG COLE

Statement of Significance

Site marks the northeastern entrance to Cogmanskloof gorge immediately south of Montagu on the R62 highway. Spectacularly folded quartzitic sandstones of the Table Mountain Group can be seen throughout the 5 km-long gorge and the entire gorge should be preserved as a geoheritage site.
