Listed by Prof Kearney and included in Appendix 7 to the Town Planning Scheme. a studio was built above the garages obliterating the view of the house from the street except from the oblique angle. Internal alterations had also been permitted by the municipality before the KZN Heritage Act (10/1997) was implemented.

Statement of Significance

A single storied house with articulated and hipped front veranda and pediment.  Built in 1910 it exhibits Edwardian Vernacular character with side-hung casement windows with fanlights above.  Average Intrinsic DesignA good example of the Building TypeA good representation of the periodExhibits good detail and proportionGood Intactness of Form and detailCondition at the time of listed was average but that has been improved through the addition of the architectural studio over garages at road level.  The garages saw the removal of the post and rail fence that was noted in the original listing.The house contributes to the local built environment and has good historical and cultural value.
