Statement of Significance

Darjeeling House was designed by Mr T Schaerer, a well-known Johannesburg architect, and erected in 1910. The building has a simplified Dutch gable and long covered verandah. Except for additions in 1913 and 1976, alterations had been limited. The space of the ilbuildings, outbuildings and gardens relate to the environment.
