Chemwes (Pty) Ltd (a subsidiary of Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd) is looking to supplement its energy supply by implementing Photovoltaic (PV) generation, aiding their transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy mix.
The development of a solar photovoltaic (PV) facility with a generating capacity of up to 15MW is proposed ~3.2km north of the Mine Waste Solutions Facility, a tailings retreatment plant operated by Harmony Gold. The solar PV development will be known as Harmony Chemwes Solar PV Facility. The site is located approximately ~4km north east of the town of Stilfontein within the JB Marks Local Municipality and within the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province.
