Farm Waaiplaats 1048 Borrow Pit/Mining Permit

Environmental Management Group is submiting an application for Environmental Authorization on behalf of the Free State Department of Community Safety, Roads, and Transport (The Applicant). The proposed project aims to legalize and permit the old borrow
pit in compliance with the new and updated legislation. The proposed project will cover approximately 2,07ha, and the project site contains disturbed indigenous vegetation and is located at Farm Waaiplaats No.1048 , falling within the Senekal Magisterial district. This site is situated approximately 22,08km south east of Senekal town.

The primary objective of this project is to extract weathered dolerite material, which will be essential for the purpose of the refurbishhment of the R707 and future development endeavors. This extraction will be carried out through surface mining techniques, encompassing various processes such as winning, classifying, concentrating, crushing, screening, and washing, to prepare the dolerite for its intended use. This application seeks to ensure that these activities are conducted in a manner that is both environmentally responsible and compliant with the requisite regulations
