Interim Comment

As the proposed development footprint is located in an area of moderate and high palaeontological sensitivity, a desktop PIA is required to be undertaken. SAHRA notes the statements in the HIA regarding the low and zero palaeontological sensitivity of the underlying formations, however, this statement must be supported by a desktop PIA conducted by a qualified palaeontologist. SAHRA advises the applicant to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1)b of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment.
