Babangu Electrification

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Limpopo Operating Unit (LOU) intends to construct the power line for the above-mentioned project. The power line will be more than 300m MV, which will T-off from the existing power line in pole number (refer to the Span plan sheets and the Pegging Coordinates for more information) which is situated at Babangu village, under Greater Giyani Municipality in Limpopo Province.

Environmental Screening of the power line route was conducted during pegging of the power line route by Survey team and site verification done by Environmental Practitioner which lead to the generation of the servitude planning documents [Distribution Environmental Screening Document (DESD), Wayleave, Span plan and Pegging coordinates attached for your reference]. Heritage resources such as properly fenced off grave yards were not observed on site, see 6.3 of the DESD. The project is within the residential area and also runs at the edge of the village in the open area with minimum vegetation on the existing Eskom power line servitude that is already disturbed by current land use activities such as the existing roads, existing power line, houses and Property boundary fence.
