UPGRADING OF KWAZANELE WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE, WITHIN MSUKALIGWA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, IN ERMELO, MPUMALANGA

Msukaligwa Local Municipality is proposing an upgrade of the existing KwaZanele Wastewater Treatment Works. The proposed upgrade shall entail establishment of a new treatment plant and associated infrastructure, with a design capacity of 6.6ML per day. This new WWTW will be parallel and independent from the existing plant. The new WWTW will be located on a separate land parcel owned by the Local Municipality, located adjacent to the existing WWTW. KwaZanele is located just south of Breyten Town within the Msukaligwa Local Municipality which forms part of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province . The Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) is located in the farm named Klipstapel, number 243IS, approximately 1.4km east of KwaZanele Township. The proposed development area is approximately 9 Hectares (ha) and located along the eastern boundary of the existing plant and at approximate center coordinates with the Latitude of 26°18'59.39"S and Longitude of 30° 0'3.32"E, within a portion of land owned by the applicant which is Msukaligwa Local Municipality . The nearest towns are Ermelo from the N17, Hendrina from the Middelburg/Witbank N4 and Carolina on the N11 or R36. The proposed upgrade (new WWTW) will be located on an adjacent land parcel, to where the existing WWTW is located
