Eskom Holdings SOC Limited’s Limpopo Operating Unit (LOU) intends to construct the power line at the above-mentioned village. The power line will include a new 486.78m medium voltage (MV) power line which will T-off from the existing MV power line at pole number FLU/SIN 97/5 (refer to the Span plan and the pegging coordinate spreadsheet). The power line will built on Farm of Senthumula 291 LS is under the jurisdiction of Makhado Local Municipality, Vhembe District Municipality, Limpopo Province.

The purpose of the power line is to supply electricity to farm at the above-mentioned property. Environmental Screening of the power line route was conducted during the pegging of the route by the Survey team and a site verification by the Environmental Practitioner which led to the generation of the servitude planning documents [Distribution Environmental Screening Document (DESD), Wayleave, Span plan and Pegging coordinates attached for your reference]. Heritage resources outlined on item 6.3 of the DESD were not observed on site. The project area is within the residential area currently heavily degraded by current land use activities such as the access roads, power lines, water pipelines, existing power lines and property boundary fence. Eskom LOU hereby notifies SAHRA of the proposed construction of the power line which is more than 300m in length. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Eskom shall immediately cease construction, inform SAHRA office, other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct investigation as prescribed by the Act.
