The Proposed Oya Accommodation Camp, Near Sutherland, Northern Cape Province

The Applicant, Sinohydro SA (Pty) Ltd, proposes the construction of an accommodation camp to accommodate employees required as part of the construction phases of the approved Oya Hybrid Energy Facilities. The accommodation camp is to be located on Portion 1 of the Farm Wind Heuvel No. 190, approximately 48 km south-west of the town of Sutherland, within the Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality and greater Namakwa District Municipality area of jurisdiction in the Northern Cape Province. The accommodation camp will comprise of infrastructure needed to accommodate staff such as accommodation rooms, offices, toilets, kitchens and fencing etc.

A development area of up to 5 ha will constitute the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) assessment area. The 3 ha development footprint, within which the accommodation camp will be located, will be sited within this larger development area to ensure that the footprint is placed outside of environmental sensitive features or areas. Access roads and a construction laydown area are also proposed as part of the associated infrastructure
