Borrow pits and quarries associated with the improvement of National Route N2 Section 33 between KZN border (Km 0.0) and Bloemendal (Km 34.0), Mpumalanga Province

The proposed project entails the development of borrow pits and quarries providing material sources for the upgrading of the existing N2 national route between the Mpumalanga/KZN provincial border and Bloemendal, Mpumalanga province. The following sites were identified as possible material sources.
Borrow Pit 1: (64.45 Ha) The borrow pit traverses across four different properties. The properties are:
-Portion 12 of the farm Voorslag 24 HU,Mkhondo Local Municipality
-Portion 2 of the farm Berbice 23 HU, Mkhondo Local Municipality
-Remainder of the farm Halsdoek 16 HU,Mkhondo Local Municipality and
-Remainder of the farm Wit Koppies 15 HU, Mkhondo Local Municipality

Quarry 1: Remainder/RE of the farm Wit Koppies 15 HU (79.69 Ha), Mkhondo Local Municipality

Quarry 4: Remainder 3 of the farm Bloemendal 10 HU (18.64 Ha), Mkhondo Local Municipality

Quarry 17: Remainder of the farm Voorslag 24 HU (104.13 Ha), Mkhondo Local Municipality

All the identified sites are located within the Mpumalanga Province within the jurisdiction of the Mkhondo Local Municipality.
